Skin Rejuvenation
Also known as a Photofacial. As we get older our skin loses elasticity and firmness and gains wrinkles,
large pores, blotches, redness and damaged blood vessels or spider veins. Intense pulse light therapy,
or IPL, is used to rejuvenate facial skin.
IPL penetrates with the means of a light to close off veins and cause collagen production to occur to
smooth out wrinkles and get rid of blotchy skin. Collagen is a protein in our skin that provides firmness
and elasticity. Our bodies produce collagen, but as we get older we produce less of it. IPL therapy
encourages and stimulates the production of more collagen. When your skin has more collagen it is
more elastic and firm and will look less saggy and aged.
Skin Tightening
IPL reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. IPL is able to do this not only by stimulating
collagen growth, but also making the existing collagen constrict, making the skin appear firmer and
smoother. This collagen stimulation means that IPL also may be useful for treating skin problems like
stretch marks. This of course depends on the type and severity of the damage.
Microdermabrasion
Microdermabrasion uses light abrasion to remove the stratum corneum–the outermost layer of skin,
which consists of dead cells. This technique works to remove skin that has been damaged by the sun, as
well as to reduce or eliminate scars. Microdermabrasion can also lessen and remove dark spots on the
surface of the skin. The process requires no anesthetic and is not painful. Microdermbrasion of a scar is
most effective when the scar is raised. This treatment will result in a clearer complexion
with softer & smoother skin.
